Kayak Wildlife Photography 2025 with Chang Lor
2/10/26 - Chang Lor
I entered my third year of photographing wildlife from my Feelfree Kayak in 2025, and, as always, the wildlife did not disappoint. As soon as the waterfowl migration north began in early April, I set out on my weekly trips across lakes and rivers using the Feelfree Moken 12.5. After publishing over 3,000 photos in 2025, I find myself reflecting on the incredible journey that has been made possible by the combination of a kayak and a camera.
About the Author. I’m an aspiring wildlife photographer based in Wisconsin. For the past three years, I have been photographing nature and wildlife from the comfort of my kayak. I have been kayaking for 13 years and have tried many different brands. My passion for kayaking deepened when a good friend, Tyler, introduced me to Feelfree Kayaks. There are two main reasons I chose Feelfree for my excursions: their patented wheel-in-the-keel technology and the comfort of their seats, including the EZ Rider and Gravity seats. While these kayaks are also extremely stable and track well, the wheel-in-the-keel and the comfortable seating are, in my opinion, distinctive features that set them apart. I often embark on solo trips, and the wheel-in-the-keel has greatly aided in transporting the kayak from my vehicle to the water without scratching the hull. Moreover, the comfortable seats allow me to spend over 10 hours a day on the water without experiencing back or shoulder pain; seriously, the seats are phenomenal!

The first and last photos below were taken while kayaking, starting with the waterfowl migration north and concluding with their migration south. The first photo features a gadwall, captured on April 11, 2025, during a peaceful and foggy morning. The second photo shows a mallard, photographed on October 23, 2025, as it took flight.

3,000+ photos later, I’m sharing my top three photos per month, April through October. Enjoy the wildlife photos and feel free to visit my entire wildlife gallery at https://changlorwildlife.smugmug.com/ or follow my social to see more: https://www.facebook.com/clwildlifephotography/

Below are more highlights from my kayak wildlife photography journey in 2025. It has been a fantastic year, and I’m excited for the 2026 season. As I write this, the waters here in Wisconsin are almost completely frozen, with the exception of the Mississippi River. I'll be out observing bald eagles and other birds of prey in the area soon. Happy New Year to the Feelfree Kayaks family! Whether you use your Feelfree Kayak for fishing or recreational activities, I wish everyone a fun and safe 2026 season.
